Chinese Elm.

I always know when the winter solstice(June 21) is past this tree comes out in leaf. The tree is being reshaped after loosing branches when we where in the cafe as you can see by the missing branches on the trunk. A week more and the tree will have its first trim on the new growth. Tree stands 50 cm high.

The tree is close to 34 years old and always been a fav of mine.
PIP shows the tree let to just grow before restyling.

Steve Paxton replied to Xata:

A lot was taken off this so I left it to go wild for a year then see just what I have got. This ia the best out of what came out of the regrowth. Given a few years you will never know but for the healing Branch cut offs.

Always good to see these Steve. The tree as it is looks to be a perfect miniature of a full size tree but I know it will different soon. yes, keeping on top of these is essential so get ready for the big prune.

Herb
ps my Chinese elm has yet to loose its leaves naturally for us, but give it time.

Steve Paxton replied to Herb Riddle:

Herb the fact each year this tree comes to life is a real pleasure to see. This is its second chance to shine after the neglect of the cafe days. This weekend it will get about 1 hour of pruning and a bit of reshaping in to better form. The tree in truth has some two /three years of growing to get back into any real shape to match where it was.

England has yet to come to winter for your tree to loose its leave but it will happen

Well love but getting back into shape after 5 years of neglect running a cafe. I lost so many of the branches it was a big step to start all over again. two more years it will be a very different tree.
