New Take on an Old theme.

This is open but it would be best to choose a photo from the back catalog of yours for this HF In this time of trouble.

My first night out of lock down I took Grandsons Girlfriend out under the stars as she had never seen the Milky way. Other than my photos and they are "never real", it is never like this. Oh but it is.

The good part is I found some one willing to give a shot a go even if it meant standing still for two shots. Never write off a shot that never went the way "you planned it to go".

Nothing like a night under the stars. A very complex set of lighting some not even planned for..............

Nice ones. You have no more lockdown, Steve?

Steve Paxton replied to Daniela Brocca:

we are in still a lock down as far as we are not able to travel out side the city to other parts of WA. we can now get together with 10 people still with due care , we in effect still have to be careful but not limited to just essential travel. two weeks will show just if this is going to undo all the lock down pain we went through. our cases still only comes from overseas travelers and we have just had some Australians brought back from overseas on mercy flights straight into lock down. my wife and I still keep ourselves separate from the rest but al least we can now see the family and have them over as we have the space out the back for 10 people and room for separation.

It was very satisfying to get out in the dark of night and enjoy it with Jess who has never been out into the night quite like this.the only thing is I cant travel to many places as most fall out side our area of WA. once that part is lifted I would call us out of lock down but it is nice to be able to get out and take photos.

Glad you like the shot.

Steve Paxton replied to TOZ:

thank you Toz it certainly was good to get out of the house and get some photos.. I was able to try out the light pollution filter for real you will see some results in a day or so. it certainly felt great to have a little of the former life back still with due care. mind you not much Covid19 where I go out at night and certainly no crowds at all, we at the moment have no new cases so it all looks to have worked. almost a very slow start up all over again.

you are right it spent some time as background on my computer, what started as an accident some 6 years ago still has great potential to make a great photo. glad you like it.

Great images, Steve. I guess I'm fortunate that I'm able to take a short walk (exercise) to a clear sky spot - what I need is clear sky! Good too, that you were able to show young Jess what a starry sky looks like.

Steve Paxton replied to tiabunna:

I know what you mean about a clear night has not been many here as well, this is not near by but luckily still in metro region.Jess did enjoy the night as well the quiet the peacefulness and helped make a few shots I just can not do on my own. the good thing is she wants in again.

Amazing shot: even the trees seem to behold the Milky Way! The best I can behold in the sky is the proximity of Jupiter and Saturn soon after twilight, until before Christmas (if clouds don't stand in between). HFF, Steve!

Steve Paxton replied to Dimas Sequeira:

You would like where I am at the moment Port Hedland is Very black skies, Very Hot ,Very humid and Very isolated. HFF I truly hope you keep safe even though we are enjoying freedom some parts of australia are not.

Steve Paxton replied to Roger (Grisly):

Thank you Rodger was a while ago but I hope to get out under the stars here. I walked from the front door of this place out into the wild(1 min) next door and took a very reasonable night shot but plan to drive out of town tonight. HFF you keep yourself safe in these times.
