Thanks, Keith. I wasn't sure what those lumps on the right were while I was framing the photo. They turned out to be turtles.

Yes, I think the heron would eat the eggs if it could find them. The turtles lay many eggs in the spring or summer and bury them in the dirt, and the heron would not find them all.
