Migrating snow geese

A friend of mine who is a wildlife biologist tells me these are snow geese that are migrating from northern Canada to the southern USA. This afternoon, I saw four large flocks of these arriving in Mississippi.

We usually see flocks of snow geese around early October - there are fields in nearby Addison where hundreds of them traditionally gather. This year I've heard them four or five times, but never seen them - they've been flying (noisily) above the cloud cover in our very overcast fall.

Thanks for the visit and info, Deborah. I'm not sure I've ever seen them before. We get Canada geese every winter. Best wishes for the winter.
