Migrating snow geese

A friend of mine who is a wildlife biologist tells me these are snow geese that are migrating from northern Canada to the southern USA. This afternoon, I saw four large flocks of these arriving in Mississippi.

Ronald Losure replied to Keith Burton:

Thanks, Keith. I was lucky to have seen them; they were flying very high and were silent.

We usually see flocks of snow geese around early October - there are fields in nearby Addison where hundreds of them traditionally gather. This year I've heard them four or five times, but never seen them - they've been flying (noisily) above the cloud cover in our very overcast fall.

Ronald Losure replied to Deborah Lundbech:

Thanks for the visit and info, Deborah. I'm not sure I've ever seen them before. We get Canada geese every winter. Best wishes for the winter.
