Sweet-gum tree cut down by beavers

This was cut down during the night on 13 August 2023. I have pointed an automatic camera toward it to see the beavers when they return.

It was a pretty tree but the beavers needed it.

Ronald Losure replied to Eunice Perkins:

Yes, I always have mixed feelings about the beavers' work. There were only minor changes during the night.

Yes, their main home is at my neighbor's pond. They have cut quite a few trees there.

Ronald Losure replied to ©UdoSm:

Yes, I think that is so, but now (9 days later), it still hasn't been dragged away. The weather has been hot, so maybe the beavers are waiting for a cool night.

They're very efficient at what they do............and I'm guessing it wouldn't have taken long for them to fell the tree. It'll be interesting to see what you get on the trail-camera Ronald.

Ronald Losure replied to Keith Burton:

Thirteen days later and the beavers haven't returned. I suppose they have more important things to do.
