Ronald Losure replied to Jocelyne Villoing:

If the twig were to break, the hawk would simply fly away. It must be nice to be a bird. Thanks for the comment, Jocelyne.

Do they hover over motorways looking out for road kill like our kites, Ronald?

Ronald Losure replied to Andy Rodker:

I really don't know, Andy. I rarely see them, despite living in Mississippi. According to the Audubon Society (https://www.audubon.org/field-guide/bird/mississippi-kite), they don't even live here in eastern Mississippi.

Andy Rodker replied to Ronald Losure:

I thought the Audubon Society (which sounds as if is very august indeed!) would know something like this. Perhaps they are a few decades out of date. Perhaps climate change is altering previously held assumptions and certainties!

Ronald Losure replied to Doerthe:

Thanks, Dörthe. On ipernity, I find six photos of them, by me and a few by Rudi Nuissl.

Ronald Losure replied to Andy Rodker:

My copy of their book is a few decades out of date, to be sure. I suppose they have more urgent things to keep track of.
