Thanks, Keith. Not only does it look strange, it is strange. It is a parasitic flowering plant that gets its nutrition from fungi, rather than photosynthesis. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monotropa_uniflora

They are flowers, but instead of having chlorophyll, they get nutrients from fungi living in the soil. Thanks for visiting, Fred.
