Thanks, Anna. I have many dead pine trees, but I don't know if these beetles kill the trees, or they feed on dead trees.

I just read there are over 690 species in this genus. I should probably remove the species name from the title. I often see critters that might be the larvae. I'll see what I can find out about them.
