Zanzibar. Old Stone Town. A Zanzibar Door. 201208

The Sunday Challenge ( 22 March '15): DOORS
.... and not the group! get in close(ish) be careful if you are using someone else's front door...easy~peasy ...... and NO urking!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Old Stone Town, including this very typical old Zanzibar Doors are part of the
UNESCO World Heritage .
Original old doors were given such a number (here 496 !) . They are listed in a special register.

Just when I pushed the shutter release, this father with his kid crossed my way
..... so I got a mishap, but a nice piece of "street photography" too.

Very interesting information about the door, and I love the blurred effect of the people passing by :-)

Heidiho replied to Shuttering Yukon:

... it's such a pity ...... sorry to say that: it's muslim country ....
means: the women are working hard, all day ....
but the men: loll around all the day. Nobody is doing something to save this doors ( and more).

Only a small part of inhabitants, minority from India, immigrated in 19. century, is active caring for this outstanding arquitecture.

( not to forget: the family of great Freddie Mercury belongs to this minority. And Freddie itself was born in Stone Town Zanzibar in 1946, his civil name: Farrokh Bulsara).

Have a fine Sunday,
greets from cold, sunny Berlin,
Heidiho

Genau im richtigen Moment abgedrückt. Tolle Streetaufnahme. Die Türe ist sicher auch fotogen, aber ohne die beiden flitzer nur halb so interessant.
