Lovely, the quintessential flowers of early summer- like in Shakespeare's time!

Amelia replied to Gudrun:

.... Quite over-canopied with luscious woodbine,
With sweet musk-roses and with eglantine.

You are so knowledgeable Gudrun. There's not many folks who would recognise both the flowers and Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

I was just thinking of you and how long it has been since we last exchanged comments. The fault is all mine of course. It is an absolute pleasure to admire your last day or Spring blooms LGM
I hope that you both are well xxx

I like the bee on the dog rose Amelia.......viewed large the detail is excellent.

The honeysuckle is looking gorgeous and also very nicely detailed.

My honeysuckle has not flowered yet :(

Amelia replied to Keith Burton:

Honeysuckles flower at different times, Keith, so don't worry about it.

After quite a prolonged heatwave which encouraged the roses in our garden to open at least 2 weeks ahead of schedule, it is now pouring with rain. They are mostly old highly scented roses which don't like rain; consequently tomorrow I will probably be dead-heading sodden balls of petals.

Amelia replied to Joe, Son of the Rock:

I have said it before and I'll say it again, "You know perfectly well that it never rains in St.Andrews, Joe." LOL

Keith Burton replied to Amelia:

Thanks for that encouraging comment Amelia ;-)

We have rain forecast for the rest of today and up until at least Thursday. I don't have roses, so I don't have the problems you do. Maybe you'll be lucky!
