St.Chad's Church Tower

Not present at the moment in the now-disused churchyard is the headstone prop of Ebenezer Scrooge (played by George C. Scott) that was used in the 1984 film A Christmas Carol for the scene where Scrooge finds his own grave.

The headstone was recently vandalized, you may have seen on the BBC news, and has been removed for repair.

Notwithstanding the interesting narrative, this is a very accomplished photograph. The clarity is particularly arresting and the overhanging branches in the top right corner are inspired.

Beautifully captured in lovely light............and the detail is just excellent. I love the shape of the church tower as well.

I had not idea about the headstone until it was on the news! I hope it gets restored and replaced soon.

Lovely architecture well framed by the trees, Amelia. I always like a tower-i-the-trees photograph. Happy St Andrews Day. Have a great weekend. All the best, Joe

A beautiful and well framed image Amelia. Lovely composition. Hopefully there was not too much damage and it can be restored quickly. Such mindless destruction is quite upsetting
