Llangollen Canal at Chirk for World Photography Day

World Photography started off by being very murky and by the time we had driven the 10 miles to our destination, the fine mist had turned into a steady drizzle and then heavier rain. So we had a coffee and decided to wait for some improvement. Sure enough it eventually stopped raining for long enough to get the camera our of the bag and take a couple of shots. The aqueduct is part of the World heritage Site which includes the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, both aqueducts were designed by designed by civil engineers Thomas Telford and William Jessop.

The weather doesn't detract from the engineering feat and you had the place nearly to yourselves:-)

The weather may have been dreadful, but these are beautiful images, Amelia.

A disappointing start to your day, that eventually worked out pretty well. This is very well composed, with a plethora of convenient leading lines. The aqueduct is particularly impressive. The rain was made everything seem fresh and clean.

I like both PiPs as well,

It was worth waiting. Rainy, gray days can be beautiful too.

You haven't been lucky with a rainy day on August 19, Amalia, but finally you managed to show something interesting.

The path we travel on.

Nice receding line for the photo. I happen to love gray days, so this pleases me just fine.
I didn't get to see any of the aquaducts when I was in England, wish I had. The history is wonderful.

You say you drove 10 miles, so had you pre-thought about taking this photo for the event?

Amelia replied to raingirl:

Yes - we know this area very well, and there is usually something of interest here.
