A lovely combination it's a nice flower so long as you don't let it seed :(( The only time I have seen a Humming Bird Hawk Moth it was feeding on Valerian

Yes - I take out seedlings every year, and try to contain the valerian to two areas.

The red flowers against the green foliage works brilliantly. Super sharp too!

Beautifully captured Amelia. They get everywhere in my front garden, along the wall. I have to pull a lot of them up. They make a lovely picture though.

This is very beautiful and Centranthus makes a wonderful garden perennial. We cannot grow many flowers, though, because the deer eat everything. If they are hungry enough they even eat the lower branches of the conifers and the bark off the other trees. My wife sprays the plants with a mix of soap, raw eggs and milk, but it does little to deter them.

A lovely contrast.
