HFF from Shropshire

The work on this part of the Montgomery Canal is largely done by enthusiastic amateurs, although certain parts have been completed by professionals using lottery money. The goal was to complete quite a long section down to where a new winding hole and mooring area has been professionally constructed. However, since the coronavirus pandemic all work has ceased and the target for completion at the end of this year of the section from here to the winding hole is now almost impossible to reach. Not all of the parts of the canal are even 'in water', but the wild life is thriving.

Looks like the construction work is going well, Amelia. This will be a lovely place to have a walk, when the restoration is complete. This is a double-HFF photo with a metal fence and a wooden one. When I see a wooden fence, I think always of the Scots expression for fence post, which, as I am sure you know, is paling stab. HFF, stay safe and have a great weekend. All the best, Joe

Restoring our canals is a wonderful idea, and there's lots of work going on across the country. It's generally very good for people, wildlife, tourism and other related businesses.

Anyway.........it's good to see your local canal is being restored...........albeit slowly. HFF Amelia, I hope you have a splendid weekend.
