The backlight works beautifully to bring out the fern. I agree, a frame detracts from the beauty of the photo. A high key like this seen on white doesn't need a frame.

Yes, it is sometimes finally rather obvious that the image does not need frames.

And this is a master piece! The blurred tree on background is a super cool detail.
