There's been a lot of emotion-ladened, profanity-ladened commentary on the recent changes to flickr. In the midst of it all, I appreciate this article (in spite of its title):

www.infinitehollywood.com/the-new-flickr-sucks-and-heres-why

And here's another article that presents itself well (including in the title):

The Infinate Hollwood article really nailed it for me. The sense of community was my first obsevation about flickr. As you well know I am just a point-&-shoot amateur who only got interested in photography because of flickr and my contacts. Some like Fran, Rebecca, Carol, Kerri and many others including yourself I consider a 9-10 while I am a 4 with maybe an odd 6 if I got lucky, yet you all accepted me with open arms and made me feel so welcome. That (according to the article & I believe it) is soon going to fade from flickr...no more community. I am thankful for ipernity and that so many of my friends have arrived here. I only wish we could convince the others to come as well.
