Delete and save water ?

Received today from United Utilities our Water Company: A list of suggested ways of reducing water usage included deleting 1000 emails saying it would reduce the water needed to cool a data centre by 39 Litres ( without giving the time )


And the reservoir levels at 10th August

In 1976 Woodhead reservoir really was completely empty as this grainy old photo shows in this week's local paper



Today the reservoir shown in the old paper does at least have some water left

I sometimes doubt that anyone in the government bureaucracy understands how science, technology or even the rest of society actually works outside of their little politically-minded circle. Meanwhile "they" (whoever they are) authorise the construction of big privately-owned profit-making data centres which will never in a million years pay any tax. Sheesh, and they rule over us ...
