Reasons why I like ambient music 9/10
Train journey For me music has always represented a storyline and trip through time and space. And that is why especially ambient music works so well as a soundtrack for videos, slideshows, movies, or somewhat any kind of presentation.

And that is why I give you two different train journeys.

Ulrich Schnauss - Train Journey from Jackbox on YouTube

Reham - This Thirst from Francois Vogel on YouTube

Second one is maybe not exactly ambient music, and the song is not long enough for my standards (should last over six minutes). But it is a good example on what skillful artist can do with the music.

On Vogel's 360 video make sure you click on it to drag the point of view around. Especially look aback when Reham Khan starts to sing at 1:17.

Today i red all your articles on ambient music, thanks for links.
Before a couple of years i went total ambient, listening it for big part of that year, from A to Z to not list all those geniuses but from nature ambient, classical, electronic to film and back.

There is one genre of ambient i fel in love so much, went through history and listen probaly most of genre put out.
After a while a couple of artists crystalize and they are still producing great music.

First time I heard about "vaporwave genre". Maybe too rhythmic for my taste at first listening, and on samples that I found =,D

Interesting. There was this one recycled melody that caught my ear in the video, and Soundhound of course found the original:

The melody I believe is played on a shakuhachi, which is almost as passe an instrument as a panpipe, even though in this case it is part of the cultural heritage of these guys. So if they replaced the pipes and other acoustic instruments with synths, would it stop the song being played as background music in the shopping malls and elevators and thus make it comtemporary in its own right?

That 360° thing is clever. Even the tunnels appear to the beat. :D
