In Finland we have this thing called... Nokia
While updating
my old The Sunday Challenge contribution, I did some additional research concerning
Nokian rubber boots and Nokia phones. Among many other interesting things I discovered a wonderful
IN FINLAND WE HAVE THIS THING CALLED ... website, their
Facebook page, and
YouTube channel.
What comes to Nokia, here's a video on that:
The best news is that
Nokia phones turned out be Finnish again! Which makes me consider updating to one in near future. Although, I still am a "Sony fan boy", and that is because of one simple reason: On Sony camera phones they have continuously provided a dedicated shutter release button on side of the phone, right where it is supposed to be. That makes photographing much more easy and steady than using a button on touch screen.
But as told on my Nokia related photo post,
Nokia is also a town in Finland. Unfortunately they does not seem to be very international at the moment, and the town of
Nokia has their web site only in Finnish. Although, there really is not much to see. It is a very small town (population 33.500), and unfortunately the old beautiful factory buildings are more or less rotting down. When I visited there few years ago, in summer, I also became harassed by very violate terns nesting on the flat roofs of those factory buildings.
Oh, and like mentioned on
Bernhard's recent photo post, Nokia is also a home of
Nokia Tyres (tires).

... I also was surprised; last year I visited the small town of Kokkola. There`s a complete restored ancient town with wooden houses. A lot of descriptions (VIPs visited the town/house in the past) - but everything in finnish only. May be "the Finns" don`t like tourists ???

But yes, I am also surprised how little effort it is done for tourism on many small towns in Finland. =/
