Is there life on Mars...euh...on groups?

We asked alot for groups and now that we have them...

I'm member of some 70/80 groups.

Today I made a visit to all of them.

What I discovered support my impression that groups as places for discussions are slowly dying.

Only few groups had more than one discussion active in the last 24 hours and only few dozens on members seem to be active.

The rest of the groups are only photo pools.

On the contrary in the last two days I had over 500 visits to my stream, real visits because I had my recent visitors tag full in less than 4 hours. OK: there is a distortion because I had one shot and two posts on the first What's hot page, but I randomly visited a lot of posts on my contacts blog and they were very active.

So my question is: am I in a cluster of very inactive groups or we prefer blog discussions to group discussions?

I add the Team Ipernity member tag, because I think something you wrote here can be interesting in guiding their decisions.

EDIT: OMG! I can't because I have too many contacts and Team Ipernity is alphabetically over my reach: can someone of you add it for me?

It’s like a new toy: If it’s new, you play a lot with it, but if the time goes by, the toy get more and more “boring”, and one day, you put it in a box and store it besides the other toys in your shelf.

Groups are great, and as they were new, everyone “plays” with them, but now the times go by, and groups are not that new, now. Although groups are great toys. But they’re no new toys anymore, therefore i don’t “play groups” that often :)

Hm, I browse the groups regulary - and I like it to compare the photos of others with mines, to get inspirations and to push myself forward. Sometimes I take a photo to put it in a group which I wouldn't take without the group - so I use groups to share photos of a special interests with others who have the same interests.
But mainly I hadn't discuss about it...
