Why Brits talk about the weather
Since the last dry spell when I got ln top of the garden things jhave got weird.

We hd a few days of sunshine and showers before we had a big change
Out of the blue we had 3 days with temps around 30c and very high humidity.
It was too much for some folk but I enjoyed being outside although indoors was a lttle too much. The next day the temps were down to 26c with low humidity which felt a lot fresher, after that we we back to sunshine and showers until the next main event.
Storm Ellen rolled in overnight and battered us with gale force winds and a high tide.
Places on low ground on the iisland flooded and the animal refuge at trhe south of the island is cut off.
Things have calmed down now but strong winds are due to hang about for a few days

Yikes, that sounds somewhat scary !

Back when I was a student, Meteorology and Climatology were part of my course.
I suppose that you could describe climate as the "average" of the weather, but on that basis, we do not have a climate in the UK, just changeable weather.

I love the sea, though reading what happens near you, and high tides, I'm sometimes glad that I'm now land-locked. Hope any damage in the area was minimal. Very built-up here so though we had high winds, I haven't seen much, if any, damage.

Well you do live on an island, Mickey - but you are very lucky that you don't get cut off too. Yes the weather is really playing with us - floods just down the road from me, while I have it lovely and sunny, then it vice versa. Yes that is one of the reasons why we Brits are always talking about the weather.

Really most of us do talk about the weather a.lot. Especially those of us with 4 seasons or like the USA have all sorts of type land terrains. Mother Nature always lets us know just who is the Boss! Hint, it Ain't US!!
