It was Christmas Day. Everyone was either in church or at home opening presents. It would be rare to see the road clear like this in day light. But if there had been normal traffic it would not have been possible to stand on this spot and get this direct view of the hill and the road. But there is also a problem of exposure balance; the road is too dark. Maybe you have to know Belfast to have any sense that this is a striking picture of unusual circumstances and perspective.
