Movie Moment: Inkheart

My wife wanted to see this movie Inkheart, so I sat down and watched it with her. It was better than I expected. I guess it could be considered a family-fantasy movie with some action and adventure thrown in, and some darker themes placed throughout.

It stars Brendan Fraser and... um... other people, most of which I was unfamiliar with. Fraser plays a "Silver Tongue". He has the power to bring characters and events from a book out into the real world just by reading aloud. The balance is that if he pulls a character out of the book, he risks the chance that someone from the real world being put in to take their place. This is exactly what happened to his wife when he read Inkheart as a bedtime story to his daughter, before he understood his power or it's consequences.
He then sets on a search to find another copy of the book. Meanwhile the main villain whom he released wants to destroy all copies of Inkheart to prevent himself from being read back in, and wants a Silver Tongue of his own to bring out riches and minions from novels of all sorts for him to have.

Overall it was well done and entertaining. I wouldn't call it a must see, but if you happen to catch it and are up for a little PG adventure you could do a lot worse.
