It is about life in South Africa in the 1870s. I am very keen to receive comments and criticisms.

A simple synopsis of the story is as follows:


Jakob K has been sailing close to the wind for some time. It has been the only way he could support his family in the wilds of Southern Africa in the 1870s.

But now he’s in a fix: he’s up to his neck in debt; evicted from his home; his reputation is ruined; and he’s in serious trouble with the law.

He has sent his wife and children hundreds of miles away to live with his in-laws.

Will he be able to find a way to rejoin his family?

Can he put his past behind him, and begin a new life with a clean slate?
