How To Move The Position of Your Pictures in Your Stream

How many times has it happened to you that you've uploaded some pictures but they're not in the order you wanted? And then you can't figure out how to change the position, and you don't even know if it's possible to do? HOW FRUSTRATING!! ARGH!!! Trust me, I've been there...it's totally annoying!

The good news is that you can change the order of your pictures easily once you understand how it works. This is how to do it:

1. Choose "Organize" at the top of the screen to the right of the ipernity logo and the search box.

2. You will see your pictures along the bottom, from the most current at the left, and going back into the past on the right. Double-click on the picture that you want in front of the picture you want to change positions with. For instance, if you want to move the picture from position 1 to position 4, double-click on the picture at position 3 to open the dialog box.

3. Where it says, "Date created / Date uploaded", click on the words "Date uploaded". (If you leave the selection on "Date created", your picture won't move in position, only the date you made the picture will change.)

4. You will see the time. Write that number down or keep it in your mind. Then, choose "Close".

5. Go to the picture you want to move, double click, and click on "Date uploaded". Change the number so it's LOWER. For instance, if the number says, "21:36:18", change it so it says "21:36:17". Click "Save Changes". Close the dialog box and reload the page by right-clicking anywhere on the screen and choosing "Reload".

6. You will now see that the order of the pictures has changed. Don't worry if the position isn't right the first time you try this, just go back in and move the number down or up so the image is in the right place.

You can also move pictures back an entire week, month or year if you like!
Now you have control over the order of your pictures! :)

OMG Janet this top picture is simply stunning. Thank you for your help here, because I have been fed up with the way the photos sometimes come in the wrong order. I've deleted them and the re-uploaded - a nuisance true, but this way would soon work that is if I can remember how to do it.

Thank you. Just what I needed.

EDIT: Does not seem to change the order on front page 'Latest photos' box. At least not right away.

EDIT: Now it is okay also on front page. So, may take a while before the change is updated everywhere.

Oh of course! :) You know, I never mentioned the fact that you can organize the pictures beforehand, which is what I usually do. But sometimes, for some odd reason, the order will be mixed up.

Yes Janet.
Photos I have taken during my long overseas tours, Japan and Thailand are sorted in advance on my PC then uploaded.
Photos from day to day here at home, normally some form of Wildlife are added to the appropriate Albums already established otherwise a New Album will be created, now slowly being sorted into Folders since the recent extra features have arrived.
Photos that were previously on my old page at Multiply com taken between 2006 & 2012 were my first job here but Newer stuff had to be added also whenever time permitted.
I am far from finished. At some time the Albums in Folders will be sorted into some form of order.

Yeah - it's really that simple [wondering] ... Of course you can organize your photos beforehand by chosing them in a certain order for upload; you should have in mind though, that the resulting order on IPE is vice versa, i.e. the first one you chose will be the last finally, and the last one you chose will be the first, according to the upload time. I don't see any chance to drag them into position outside an album. Inside an album it's easily accomplished while using the "change order" function, or simply drag them into position. So, if I didn't like the order after upload, I deleted them und reloaded them in correct order. Takes some time, though.
To cut the long story short: Thank you very much for the suggestion, Janet!
And yes, the picture is great!
