Two-Headed Monster!
Box Elder Bugs Mating Well, as time has passed, Flickr has gotten a lot faster and this has made it possible for me to surf around at a reasonable speed again, but now that I have a home here at ipernity too, I have discovered that I now have two heads. :D I don't want to give up my account at Flickr, but I really don't like the way it looks at all. I may have gotten used to it, but I hate it. I feel very out of sorts on Flickr, whereas I feel at home on ipernity.

Ipernity has the look I really like, but it also has problems that bug me. I would like to be able to add my pictures to multiple groups at once similar to the way Flickr does it. Also, it's really nice to be able to hit "F" to Favorite a picture. You can't do that with ipernity. Annoying. And in order to imbed a picture into comments, you have to jump through serious hoops to get to the code. WAY annoying, especially since that's something I love to do. Because it's such a royal pain in the neck, I can't be bothered and that makes me a sad panda.

92/365: "Beauty is eternity gazing at itself in a mirror." ~ Khalil Gibran However, I really LOVE being able to easily see who's been visiting my stream and exactly when they've visited. It's so nice to see whether they are a contact, and if not, it's just a click to add them to my contacts instantly! LOVE THAT! Also, people on ipernity are so friendly, it seems to mean more to get comments here. It feels like a family! :)

There are a bunch of my friends from Flickr who have closed their accounts there and are now only on ipernity, and because of this and all the other positives, I am forced to be a two-headed monster! It is impossible to keep up with commenting on two sites, so I'm doing what I can, and other than that, I have to throw my hands in the air. Such is life, right? I refuse to choose one or the other, so this is the way it will be. Maybe down the road I'll choose, but I don't see it happening anytime soon. I cannot bear the thought of losing friends from either side.

Janet, I love your blog and I understand all you want from here that you had there... but new place new things.. I find Flickr so horrible slow still, it is the messiest set~up I have ever seen... they do not do the pictures any justice at all. I will let my pro run out and stay with a free one, I have a group over there I admin and I can not leave my members!

I will look for you in Flickr as well, I, too, am a two-headed monster...I have enjoyed both places for different reasons. Overall, Flickr is free, and I can buy Club here when I am ready. In flickr there isn't a place for people to write and get comments and Favorites for it :)...I told you I enjoyed your writing...and this one is cool, from the title to the end. Happy day my friend...keep your sense of humor.

I don't know where you are finding the code to imbed photos into comments - and I agree that it is a pain to have to use HTML - but I've memorized the basic code and have gotten a little used to it. It's hard to type in a comment to show you because it keeps trying to put a photo in - but think it will work if I do it this way:

img src="url"/

So you grab the url by right clicking on the photo you want to insert and picking "copy image location" - though it may say something slightly different if you aren't using Firefox browser. Then you start with the lesser than symbol (above the comma), type the above code pasting the url in, ending with the greater than symbol (above the period). Hope that helps.

It's not exactly obvious, but what you do is click on the tab "Photos" when you're on your page. Then, on the left side, choose, "Your favorite photos" at the bottom. There you go! :)

Hello Janet. You come highly recommended by Fran who has been a great flickr and now ipernity friend. I have to say that I love this article and understand your feelings completely. Flickr was my first and only attempt at a social site when I joined last Nov. and I instantly fell in love with it. Now I have just recently said my goodbyes to my remaining contacts as I just can't load & browse & discover new people/groups etc. I won't delete my account since that will mess up favs and links etc and there is always a very slim chance of a better flickr, but for now ipernity is my home. Looking forward to browsing your stream later.
