This past week has been hot. It's been d*mn hot! Work hasn't been too bad, although a whole aisle of freezers has conked out so we have no ice creams except for a very small selection in an end freezer, and no pizzas. Sacre bleu!

Whilst many of us are finding this weather uncomfortably hot, I'm sure we'll all look back on this time, during the depth of winter, and wish it was warm again. Rant alert... lol. The 2 wannabe PM's have this week met with the energy giants, and as suspected, nothing is set to change. Truss even went so far as to say that profit is not an evil word. Well, profit may not be, however profiteering is! I understand the issues are complex, and a lot of the blame lies at the 'hands' of Ofgem and our government. In fact what I'd like to do to the Ofgem senior staff involves a wall... I can't continue. I digress. Profit isn't evil, however pushing millions into fuel poverty whilst one is making millions, and more, in profit most certainly is evil IMO. Rant over, for now...

Back to work. I was chatting with a customer on Saturday, nothing contentious, just passing the time of day, and he asked for my name. O...K... I gave it, it's on my badge anyway. Today, my manager found me on the shop floor and asked me to come and find him once I'd finished my pick. Uh oh. Now, whilst I'm no longer a practicing catholic, I was raised catholic and when a manager says that, I immediately think: what have I done? lol.

He must have espied my angst as he came back to me and told me what was going on. Apparently we're over-staffed and they're looking to move people around, at least in the short term. I didn't think until I got home, but we have 3 new starters. Will they be let go? Either way, I was asked if I'd be interested in working on stock control. Same hours, same money, with the benefit of possible overtime picking when available, same as now. Sounds okay, and could be less physical than now. The night shift sort out what stock we need, and leave it on cages. I'd need to check the dates on products, and maybe stock some shelves too. As long as I don't lose hours, or my job, I'm game for a change. Could be good...

Anyway, none of this is definite yet, they're testing the water though I have been told not to discuss this with my collagues as it may cause some to panic.

So, that's my week. Oh, apart from an adorable little girl in the store this week. Very small, running around, and each time she saw me, she let out a squeal of delight, then started to laugh. The third time she did this, I said: I know, it's so funny, and I laughed. She laughed too, then ran off to her daddy. What a poppet.

2 days off now, thank goodness. I'm hoping for rain. Have a good week.

Yes it has been extremely hot here too - it actually reached 35C a couple of days. I'm so lucky with my house being old and high, it meant that it was cooler indoors. Way too hot outside for my COPD and other things. So I've stayed indoors and it's not been too unbearable.

If you like the idea of the new job, I'd take it. It's good that you're not in the firing line with them being over-staffed. I hope you enjoy the next two days off - apparently the temps are going to come down and we can expect some rain.

Thanks Jenny. So long as they keep me on, and pay me, then I'll do most anything. I don't want to work on counter where they cook meat/chicken though as the smell turns my stomach just walking past it.

Cloudy start here tho rain not forecast for us until tonight. My bedroom was 30C last night. Awful!

At least with the new job there wouldn't be the same urgency to get done. I remember you're timed doing your picks? That and if they're considering you for something else while slow, they like you and want to keep you. All good.
Weve been super hot here the last couple weeks. Its averaged 34 but got over 36. IWe Stayed inside as much as possible.
But the heat finally broke over the weekwnd and the last 2 days have been gorgeous. Hopefully that will pass on to you.

Thanks Gracie. Lovely start today, blue skies, clouds, and sunny tho cooler which was nice. Threatening to rain now but we desperately need it here so no complaints from me.

Well, I'm reliable, always early for my shifts, and get on with everyone... mostly lol.
