Hello all,

I recently joined Ipernity, after being on Flickr for many years.

Over the next few months, I will be doing two things:

1) Transferring as many photos as I can from Flickr to Ipernity.

2) Placing many of the 8,000 photos from Flickr on my personal website. These will supplement those on Ipernity.

I do this because I see no future for Flickr. It was a great run while it lasted.

I am delighted to join the Ipernity community, and look forward to seeing many more beautiful photos from the members here.

Welcome Robert, Yes I moved over in 2013 and glad I did. There is a lot to Ipernity to find out about and even more as the community grows. I think the biggest challenge today is raising enough funds to re-write the code into a state of the art platform for us all to enjoy. We are led by a fantastic team of volunteers all using their professional experiences and elected by us "The club members" to run Ipernity as a successful photo sharing hub. Thank you for joining my list of contacts and your participation in Ipernity.

You are most welcome! While Ipernity faces challenges with the software, the fact is that Flickr's software is in a huge mess with little chance that it will be better any time soon. Ipernity software looks quite good to me (not looking under the hood, of course). Other "vendors" such as Google Photos have abandoned photo-lovers and hobbyist. Sad.

I just noticed your contributions to the group 'Flickr Refugees' (I'm the admin of the group and noticed you were the latest member. Sorry for a delayed finding of your photos, I have a number of groups I handle, and Flickr Refugees is not high maintenance so I don't check it that often) - and wanted to welcome you (belatedly) to ipernity!

It looks like you are finding your way around just fine, but if you have any questions please feel free to reach out through "Help & Contact" at the bottom of each page, or you can message me directly and I will do my best to help.
