Sign of the covenant

Had the ancient shepherds had means to travel fast, they would have noticed that rainbow is not anchored to the ground but moves with the viewer. They would have understood that the arc is in the eye of the beholder, that each of us has their own, personal rainbow. Had that happened, would they ever have dared to tell a story, where rainbow is the sign of god's covenant with people?

Oh modern man, shackled by science and knowledge!

Hey, Doc! Are you getting all philosophical on us? :-) :-) :-)
I was introduced to the reality of rainbows at an early age, by my dad, who was a moderate rationalist and believed in telling children what is what. I've been grateful to him ever since.

Spo replied to dolores666:

At least I'm trying hard.
I'm not sure if my father was a rationalist or not, but he didn't tell me what was what, what he thought was what, nor what the others thought was what.
He only told me they were wrong.

A rainbow is a rainbow is a rainbow... no matter about the believes... always a wonder.

I remember as a child, our resident student asked my parents if she could use me to perform an IQ test set by the University of St.Andrews. One of the pictures was of a rainbow with the sun there too. An impossible result of course. I don't know what my IQ score turned out to be. but I suspect I was shown to be a genius. ;-))))

Spo replied to Amelia:

:D So your answer was that either the sun or the rainbow was too much?

A very special rainbow. I often chase rainbows but very rarely get a wide view of any of them

Spo replied to Colin Ashcroft:

Even 24mm is not quite enough for them, as we can see here.
