It is almost impossible for me to leave Stourhead without taking yet another picture of this scene!

Perfect shot, Rosa, the compression you have from the 85mm lens setting, is spot on. Lovely PiP as well!... Best wishes... John.

Lovely images Rosalyn I think I like the second one best, I've not visited Stourhead you see variations of the 'garden ornaments' at many of the large estates is the landscape natural or was it created ? I hope you have a good day, the wind is still cold :((

Rosalyn Hilborne replied to Peter Castell:

Thank you Peter. As Stourhead suggests, it is the source of the River Stour but the gardens were artificially created in the early 1700's. They were designed by Henry Hoare II and the Hoare family lived in the house until it was handed over to the NT sometime in the later half of 20th century. I remember as a teenager walking around the gardens for free!!

Thank you so much for your kind comments Doug. I do take a lot of pictures in the gardens but the seasons and light make them different....I hope ;-)

All the best, Rosa.

I can see why you find it difficult to stop taking photos of this place Rosa............it's really lovely there!

I like the classical shape of the bridge and the building in the background with the columns, and you've managed the light well to get some lovely colours in the trees.

In the PiP, I like the tower and it's long shadow and the way it blends in with the surrounding trees.

Very nicely done..!!

Rosalyn Hilborne replied to Keith Burton:

I am pleased you can see my dilemma Keith! I am only 7 miles away and often meet friends there or in the cafe and of course the camera comes along too! Also I worked there for two years in the mid 1990's.

Thank you for your kind compliments on both shots Keith.
