Home In The Shadows ..

- for now
- Momma Robin MOCKINGBIRD built a nest for the little ones
- in between branches and Clematis flowers

- went to weave the tendrils away from the mailbox today
- so we would still get our usual amount of Junk Mail

- OH MY
- what a surprise

- that explains lots of chirping as I would go near the mailbox
- Mr C went out a bit later
- he said Momma flew from the nest
- so all must be fine

Interesting and beautiful photos. Have you had a good look at the parents? These eggs are rather different from the usual robin eggs, which are normally pure blue with no spots.

Ronald Losure replied to Ronald Losure:

I am going to speculate that they are the eggs of a mockingbird.

Peggy C replied to Ronald Losure:

Speculation confirmed .. Mockingbird eggs !

Many thanks to y'all for the visits and comments --
and a special one to Ronald Losure -- went out and peeked in -- you have the ID perfectly !

Just asked Mr. C "are you sure it was a Robin you saw ...." .. answer: Nope !

So, it is a Mockingbird nest !

Glad to help out, Peggy. Now you have to provide us a series of photos as the babies grow up. ;-)
