Night Blooming Cereus
.. droplets of rain
.. on a flower that only bloomed at 10pm
.. attached to a spiky cactus [ yes, it hurt ]
.. always warned my neighbor that I'd be out there
.. the first year, I didn't tell her
.. she and her husband wondered 'who was outside their bedroom window at 10pm at night'
.. on a night like this, with no moon
.. carrying a flashlight and a camera became a balancing act
.. but worth it all

Does it only flower at night?
Peggy C replied to Andy Rodker:
This variety does; had a friend a couple of towns over who had a succulent that bloomed at night also, but the entire plant was covered in blooms -- this cactus didn't have more than 4 blooms at a time.
After if flowers, it begins the reverse process and closes up in the daylight.

But, very fickle about temperatures .. it froze back [yes, it can freeze in Florida], and don't think it quite recovered.
