Light

The pink colour in this photograph is produced by daylight shining through the dome at the top of the space. This building is the old Carillon City shopping mall in the centre of Perth which closed in 2021 and will soon be demolished.

For the Perth Festival in 2024 Rebecca Baumann created “Light Event” in the three storey glass atrium which once led down these staircases to the food hall. The colour comes from dichroic film applied to the atrium windows. During the day the colour changes as the sun moves.

I have many fond memories of this place over the years …

Marvellous colour and interesting information. This looks far too good to be demolished.

A really nice perspective to show it off. It's a shame they're going to demolish it. In my little town, they're tearing down a historic house, the oldest house in town, built in 1887. And the reason for it? Because they want to build another Dollar General store, three blocks away from one we already have.
