Medieval Wall (PiPs)
Aigues-Mortes (Dead-Waters) is a walled 13th century town in the Carmargue. Situated on the edge of salt water marshes joined to the sea by the Grau du Roi, and to Sète by the Canal du Rhône, it was planned by Louis IX who wanted to establish on the Méditerranean a passage to the Middle East for his crusades. Commercially it relied on the salt from the marshes and fishing. Today the walls remain intact and this beautiful old town within a town, welcomes many tourists - me amongst them!

A nicely captured set of images. I like them all but I particularly like the image in the second PiP of the arrow slit, the archway and those beautifully worn steps.

Als wir dort mit den Fahrrädern waren, gab es noch kein Navi.
Wir, des Französischen unkundig, fragten nach dem Weg dorthin und sprachen den Namen so aus, wie er geschrieben wird. Keiner kannte die Stadt! ;-)
