The enormous meadow and tiny bench remind me of something rather different...years ago Steve and I went to Yosemite and hiked on a trail at Tuolumne Meadows. Part of it takes you across simply staggering plates of glaciated granitic bedrock. One feels like a tiny ant. Kind of like that bench in the meadow! (Here's a picture I found to illustrate: Granite field )
