Swarm..!!

I had a wander around the Bishop's Palace Garden in Chichester this afternoon. I thought there were an awful lot of bees around, then I spotted this in their wild flower section. This was as close as I dared go as I only had my 12-100mm lens with me.

Apologies, but no time for commenting tonight.............I have other stuff that needs doing. I'll catch up tomorrow hopefully.

Magical!
Ihad a fright a couple of years back. I was walking in the Sierra de La Cabrera (as one does) and rounded a corner on a path to encounter head on a swarm of bees on their way to a new home. Like you, just before this I thought there were rather a lot of bees and then suddenly the sound became deafening and I half guessed what it was but not being able to see it put the right frighteners up me I can tell you! And then it was upon me and I instinctively sank into a crouched position with my arms covering my head and very quickly it was over and I breatherd a sigh of relief. Only then did the pain start and I realised I had been stung a couple of dozen times and a few bees were still hanging off my arms. But I escaped relatively lightly, I think!

Ouch ..!! A scary tale Andy...................I felt a bit safer with these as they had already swarmed, but I didn't feel safe enough to hang about too long :-))

Glad you like the shot...........thanks.

Thanks for the info Wilhelm. I had no intention of disturbing them............I stayed long enough to grab a couple of photos and then I was out of there..!!

Oh, I would have kept my distance like you! My brother in law used to keep bees and they sometimes had to go and catch them when they had swarmed...
