Itsy Bitsy Spider

This week in SSC:

"Take photos of any subject beginning with the letter "S."

"S" is for Spider, of course! It's also for "squeamish" so I hope you won't be too alarmed by my little friend here. :))

I tried my new macro lens out yesterday on this adorable little spider. He was only 1/2 inch or 12.7mm long and I can only imagine how big I must have looked to him. There's another pic below. I also have a little video of him here if you're very brave: Spidey Video

...and for Sight and Sound:

Carly Simon from her album "Coming Around Again" (1987)

I have an irrational fear of spiders, and this fellow looks like a tarantula. I'm so glad that he hasn'y leapt out of the screen. ;-)

She looks nice, maybe I should send you some of our big house spiders to add to your collection. Looks like a fine lens you have there Kloset. The video looks good too. Did you do that with the same camera? Well done and good luck in the SSC. ~ Herb

Believe it or not, this type of spider is my favorite (besides orb spiders)! I think it has something to do with the way it responds in its environment. It behaves more like an animal than an insect. Those multiple beady eyes see everything! I especially love the second photo where it's positioned itself to look up! Fabulous macro capture, my friend! :-)
