The Bank

For the Saturday Self-Challenge group, whose theme this week was "Artificial Intelligence."

I spent all week researching Artificial Intelligence and trying to figure out how to represent it photographically. The reason I picked a bank as my subject is because they employ AI in many ways. From the ability to accept checks deposited through a cell-phone application; helping to prevent fraud by using AI systems to learn what types of transactions are fraudulent; AI helps with credit decisions in determining the specific risk assessment for individual customers; or even to send customers text message alerts for a low balance, artificial intelligence is working in the background.

I don't have anything in my house that employs AI, and since this picture was taken on film using a camera made in 1916, I think you can figure out my stance on Artificial Intelligence.

The local bank in my little town. This was supposed to be the weekend of our local annual street fair, but apparently it was called off due to a virus. Normally you wouldn't be able to see the bank from this angle because there would be a corn dog stand in front of it or a Scrambler.

The challenge was extremely difficult, in my opinion !! The idea of the bank is great !
However I hope the next challenge will be more "artistic" on a photographic point of view ! Happy week-end !

It was a very difficult challenge for me as well. I almost couldn't come up with a subject to fit the theme.

A well done and well chosen example! A do sympathise with your stance on AI.
It's frightening how much Google&Co know about us even when we try to turn off all the spy programs and delete scripts and cookies. Ideally we should use cash for our shopping, every card purchase gives the shops and bank more information about us. Difficult in virus times when contactless is the way to go...

Routers and servers are considered to be old technology and, as such, are not recognized as being artificial intelligence. They are just simple machines that are made to do one thing, not think or do anything else.

Dein PC arbeitet nie mit Cookies?

HaarFager replied to Taormina:

Yes, my PC works with cookies. No cookies are not artificial intelligence. They're not even machine intelligence. Any more than a bookmark to mark your place in a book is. They're practically the same thing. My PCs operating system is Windows XP, quite ancient in terms of technology. Now, if you're talking about chocolate cookies, I can't work without those!
