Gives the impression of a moving wall: cement, render, tar, water erosion, waves. It’s doing things a wall shouldn’t. That’s peculiar and interesting. The high contrasts make it come at the viewer.
That hadn't occurred to me, Steve, although I'm sure the realization is in my unconscious somewhere, so thanks for helping me understand this. Good point about the contrast, too, especially as I've been worrying about contrast lately.
