Thanks, Andy. That's the London Free Press. In my younger days it used to bill itself on the masthead as "Western Ontario's foremost newspaper", but no longer.
This has to be suburbia. Without that red pickup truck it would be vacant. Blank (back of) signs, half readable ones, a dirty, unsold newspaper. This should be a painting - it would get rave reviews. As a photo, maybe also, but not by the locals methinks.
Thanks, Bob. It seems to me that painters are increasingly using photographic composition -- for example, painting from points of view a painter with an easel could not possibly use. So painting is becoming more and more like cheating. I would have liked the truck to be about three feet to the right but snapped too soon. A painter can just arbitrarily move it.
