L’abbaye de Saint-Évroult était une ancienne abbaye bénédictine fondée au VIIe siècle. Elle connaît une période de grande reconstruction au XIIIe siècle dont les ruines actuelles sont le témoignage. De ce long édifice d’une centaine de mètres, il reste des parties élevées du porche et du transept, ainsi que les bases des murs et des colonnes de la nef qui en dessinent parfaitement le plan.

POETRY OF RUINS. Saint-Evroult Abbey was an ancient Benedictine abbey founded in the 7th century. It underwent a period of major reconstruction in the 13th century, as evidenced by the ruins we see today. Of this long building of around one hundred metres, the elevated parts of the porch and transept remain, as do the bases of the walls and columns of the nave, which perfectly outline its layout.

DIE POESIE DER RUINEN. Die Abtei Saint-Evroult war eine alte Benediktinerabtei, die im 7. Jh. gegründet wurde. Im 13. Jh. wurdie sie umfassend umgebaut, wovon die heutigen Ruinen zeugen. Von diesem hundert Meter langen Gebäude sind noch die hohen Teile der Vorhalle und des Querschiffs sowie die Grundmauern und Säulen des Kirchenschiffs erhalten, die den Grundriss des Gebäudes perfekt wiedergeben.
