Captured outside of the Skye Museum of Island Life at Uig on the Isle of Skye. The late afternoon September light catches the lichen covered standing stone at the roadside and in the background the preserved thatched cottages, seven in total, reveal the secrets of 19th century crofting life.
Inside the museum visitors can see a family home complete with simple furnishings, a smithy, a weaver's house and a ceilidh, or meeting house, along with an array of crofting tools and equipment. There are also archives, including the story of Flora MacDonald, who smuggled Bonnie Prince Charlie to safety disguised as a spinning maid.
