This colourful sunset was only made possible by Sahara dust at the end of February 2021. "The cause of the desert sand in Bavaria is usually a particularly warm weather situation: the Sahara dust comes to Germany with warm air from North Africa. A cyclone in the desert drives the sand upwards and strong winds carry it northwards. The air laden with the mineral dust particles then flows at medium and high altitudes and thus also passes over the Alps."
