Then And Now ...

For this week's Sunday Challenge for which the theme was metal.

This was taken in the yard of Allerton Steel of Northallerton, who are specialists in structural and mechanical fabrication and was a shot I didn't think I would get given that the yard has a high fence all around it. However, my efforts at getting some shots through the fence led to two men coming out to ask what I was doing ... oh how I wish I had a pound for every time I've been asked that!

Anyway, once I explained they seemed convinced I was harmless and agreed to me getting inside the yard to take some more photos for the challenge.

Also for Sight and Sound. And with today's news that Walter Becker, co-founder and guitarist for the US band Steely Dan, has died aged 67, how about said band with "Reelin' in the Years" from 1973 - enjoy:

That's a great story. Usually it ends up with the photographer being chased away.

A very good image, Paul. :)

This is a fitting tribute to one talented artist. What a shame he's gone so soon. (I just posted a tribute myself.)

The composition is perfect for this subject and I like all the different layers - each one a slightly different rusty colour! Another inspired image Paul.

Oh this did work well Paul. Love it. Nice to hear that they were kind enough to let you get inside to take some shots. Some people are understanding when you explain your intentions. Thankfully they didn't think you were a threat of some kind given what is going on in this world today. :)
