Maori Watercraft
From a simple dugout like this one to a big waka (boat, canoe, vehicle) - a 40m long dugout with space for up to 80 warriors, the Maoris made it.
It is amazing how the Polynesians, according to Hawaiian legends, travelled across the Pacific Ocean on such a simple boat and settled in New Zealand around 1280! This is also where the Maori culture was founded. They also gave the country the name Aoteaora - land of the long white cloud!

Aotearoa is the correct spelling, Aschi. It is very frequently used here...often linked as Aotearoa-New Zealand.
