RUMOR OF THE WORLD

The words, stupid
addiction, old.
The last? The first?
Like the hedgehogs
opening to the rumor of the world:
the still green sun of lemons,
the squirrels
from other evenings, the bark
of the rain on the windows,
the old men around the fire
--- they never were so beautiful.

RUMOR DO MUNDO

As palavras, vício
torpe, antigo.
As últimas? As primeiras?
Como os ouriços
abrem-se ao rumor do mundo:
o sol ainda verde dos limões,
os esquilos
de outras tardes, o latido
da chuva nas janelas,
os velhos em redor do lume
--- nunca foram tão belas.
