Iceland, View to the East from the Tallest Point of the Lakagigar Chain

Lakagigar is a shield volcano in the south of Iceland. It is a chain of more than 110-115 craters up to 818 m high (the relative height of the lava cones above the basalt cover is 80-90 m), stretching for 25 km. Lakagigar is located between the Mýrdalsjökull and Vatnajökull glaciers, in an area of faults that extend from southwest to northeast.

In this photo you can see the Vatnajökull glacier on the horizon.
