Ethiopia, Lalibela, Swastika on the Wall at the Entrance to the Bete Maryam (St.Mary) Church

The swastika (as a character 卐 or 卍) is a geometrical figure and an ancient religious icon in the cultures of Eurasia, used as a symbol of divinity and spirituality in Indian religions. In the Western world, it was a symbol of auspiciousness and good luck until the 1930s, when it became a feature of Nazi symbolism with association with ideas of racism and antisemitism.

You could see many of the swastikas on ancient Russian cloths or even on the house carvings. Many of these artifacts were eliminated or hidden by KGB during the Second World war to prevent Russians from fighting on German side.

Yes, I know. In Ukraine, the image of the swastika is also not rare, for example, in the famous St. Sofia Cathedral in Kiev. Under Soviet power, of course, it was painted over, but has now been restored.
