In Canada, the term Eskimo is no longer used to describe northern aboriginal peoples. We use the indigenous word Inuit (the people) to refer to those First Nations people. We have also, for the most part, given up on the term Indian and respectfully refer to them collectively as First Nations or by the name corresponding to their historical roots. (Haida, Cree, Mohawk, Ojibwa, etc.)
