A pretty barren looking landscape that has a special quality of it's own mainly because of the contrast between the green algae(?) and the colour of the rock on the slopes. There's also a nice looking double waterfall in the distance. I wouldn't call it pretty but rather interesting!
The same applies to the two images in the PiPs.
I do like these.........and they're very well taken in lovely light..........but I find it difficult to describe what I'm seeing. Does that make sense? Probably not ;-)
Thanks a lot, Keith! The rocks are all volcanic so nothing much except mosses grows there, it's all rather stark. I know what you mean, that close you can only see weird shapes covered in green;-) On top is a glacier with the volcano underneath but you can only see that from further away.
12 years ago all this was covered in a thick layer of ash from the notorious eruption that brought air traffic to a standstill.
